On Friday, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced Indiana’s August unemployment rate dropped by 0.3 points to 8.1 percent.
The national unemployment rate dipped to 7.3 percent, leaving Indiana with a considerably higher rate, 0.8 percent above the nation. Ohio’s unemployment rate ticked up slightly to 7.3 percent, a 0.1 point increase. The unemployment rate in Kentucky fell slightly to 8.4 percent. Illinois’ jobless rate remained even at 9.2 percent from July and Michigan’s 9.0 percent unemployment rate increased from 8.8 percent in July.
County with the highest unemployment rate: Sullivan at 10.7%
